Mark 10 Divorce in Light of Pentecost: God's Promise to be Kept

Podcast Powered By Podbean

Jesus just lays out the truth about divorce.
Tough facts about reality and the intent of our creator.
Jesus quotes Genesis because it's historical fact and relevant to how we view the world.

The point of today's sermon was the enduring nature of covenant and the quality of God's promises.
At Pentecost we reflect on the down payment of the Spirit toward the promised redemption...

God has betrothed us and we look forward to the wedding feast of the Lamb.
He is faithful to all His promises and we can depend on that.

Just as marriage is meant to be for a lifetime and we work through the trouble caused by sin,
Salvation is eternal and we face the trouble caused by sin.
God gets us through ;)

Jesus almost threatens people who cause believers to stumble.  He declares it would be better to drown with a millstone tied around their necks.

God is not using Hell to threaten people into relationship with Him. God offered real choice to validate love and URGES us not to choose to be apart from everything good, eternally.

Jesus describes NOT with God, Hell, in specific language. Biblical literature paints a very negative picture of this avoidable final state.

Smarter guys with publishers are reasoning away this pretty simple language about Hell. Give a listen and Read the bible verses quoted and decide what you will believe...

The Church

I am so inspired by the people who gather to discern the mind of Christ in the Alva community! Seeking the Lord, considering the cost, plotting a course ahead.  There is nothing like people using their brains and arriving at decisions that still require faith, willing to stand and see the goodness of the Lord.
