Gathering for Remembrance day at the Cenotaph
The churches in Alva gather together with the British Foreign Legion, Scouts/Brownies, students, elected officials and many other community groups to remember the fallen; and to look to God, for some context to explain the madness of war, and some hope about the future for peace.

Creation Fest Sotland

What a wonderful day in Glasgow at George Square with Creation Fest Scotland.
Soooo many people passed-through, on a lovely day, to hear the good news!

Thanks to everyone who prayed for this event;
and the people who helped design the 'Passports' at out 'Refugee Processing Centre';
and the folks who helped to make the crafts;
and those who coordinated to assemble each satchel of crafty elements.
this work helped make the day go smoothly.
To everyone who came on the day, well-done.

Luke 8:1-15 The Parable of the Sower and the Soils

Jesus came proclaiming and bringing the good news.
What does it mean to BRING the good news?

Exactly WHAT good news did Jesus bring
about the coming kingdom of God?

Does the way you face life,
bear witness to the power of God to overcome?

Why does Jesus share truth in parables
so that so that 'seeing they may not see,
and hearing they may not understand' ?

Romans 11
illustrating God's committment to correction
and why he hides truth in parables

Luke 7:36-50 The Pharisee and the Sinner (On Washing Jesus' Feet)

Leadership, hospitality and worship:
What do you expect from the church when you think about those words.
What are you looking for when you look to the church?
Does that line-up with what God values?

Jesus knows the thoughts of His host Simon the Pharisee.
God knows the ponderings of our hearts;
and He still loves us and speaks the truth to us.

"Who is this, who even forgives sins?"
Isaiah 53 shares the description of the suffering servant:
"Stricken for the transgression of My people"
It is because of this that Jesus is able to say in
Luke chapter 7: "Your sins are forgiven."

Simon the Pharisee, forgiven little, loves little.
The sinful woman knows how deeply she needs a savior.
But we all face the same deep need,
whether we know it or not.
Worship reflects how much we recognise our deep need
and God's great provision.

Luke 7:24-35

This week we see Jesus speaking about His messengers.
What do you look for in a spiritual leader?

Challenging unrighteousness doesn’t offer a way-out of guilt and shame.

Romans 1:18 If you sin, and seek to justify yourself  you "by (your) unrighteousness, suppress the truth"

Jesus draws our attention to the excellence John has shown in the role of prophet and then contrasts this with the place of the disciple of Jesus.

Galatians 5:22-6:10
The message today is that the meek and lowly servant of God,
following God, simply, faithfully,
makes all the difference in the world
and is great.

Luke 7:11-23

The teaching of God about how God sees us and how He wants us to see Him.

Like the widow of Nain, maybe you are facing hopeless circumstance.
But God promised to comfort those who mourn.

There are no small places in God's kingdom.  God knows what you are going through and He has compassion.

Where God is at work, word gets around.
Jesus answers questions on His authority
with the evidence of His diety

Jesus shows us the faithful witness of a man walking in the power of the Holy Spirit

Jesus would often make time to pray, what can we learn from His example?

Will work similarly in your life?
