Exodus 21: God Hears Our Cries for Justice

Micah 6:8
He has told (humanity), what is good;
and what does the LORD require of you?
but to do justice,
and to love kindness,
and to walk humbly with your God

When we read the laws put forth in Exodus 21-24,
we are convicted that they are fair and just.

But when we apply them to our current day with honesty and courage, there is a condemnation that falls upon most. There is an indictment of humanity for what we have allowed to happen in our present day.

In the face of this, the gospel of Jesus Christ is the only hope we have of dealing with the 'death sentence' that comes with a 'guilty verdict'.

John 3:16
"For God loved the world so much
that he gave his one and only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him
will not perish but have eternal life.

And we respond to this offer, from the heart.
We respond to a loving and merciful God,
who must be fair, as an expression of His perfect justice.

We respond to a loving God who fulfilled the requirements of the Law, in it's living-out, and in it's just requirement for justice against the law-breakers who have injured others.

When we are wronged, God defends.
When we are perpetrators, God enforces the consequences.
When the consequence is death,
God paid the price in the death of Christ.
And this inspires prayer.
